Frequently asked questions

Why are certain Arabic letters written differently in the grid?

Letter forms are normalized inside the grid: hamza forms (أ إ آ) are written as alef, alef maqsura (ى) as ya, and ta marbuta (ة) as ha. A single cell cannot indicate which form is intended, which would turn solving into guesswork. Normalization is standard practice in Arabic crosswords.

Does the app need an internet connection?

No. It works fully offline. Puzzles are generated on your device each time, and the word bank is bundled in the app.

Do words repeat?

No word repeats until the entire word bank is exhausted, after which a new cycle begins. The remaining count is shown at the bottom of the home screen.

How do I switch between across and down?

Tap the same cell again, or use the arrow button in the clue bar.

I lost my progress

Progress is saved automatically on your device, and a "resume" button appears on the home screen. Progress is lost if you start a new puzzle or delete the app.

I found a wrong or ambiguous clue

Email me the clue text and what you believe the correct answer is. This is the most useful feedback I can receive, and it is fixed in the next update.
